Genesis

A group of professionals, mainly development specialists, from Kerala settled in Delhi joined hands for creating a professional forum in Delhi. The major objectives of the forum were to deliberate on various development issues of Kerala and other Indian states and to establish an organization to promote high human development indices among various states. The forum was coordinated by Dr.Jacob John, an economist with a long experience working with national and international organizations. In the first phase of the activities, the forum organized a series of seminars, workshops and training programmes. Eventually the forum was transformed into a professional organization.

As a national organization, KDS strives to be recognized as a progressive and proactive body promoting international human development standard.

Vision of KDS-Delhi

KDS envisions a future where each and every individual or group is able to get the benefit of social and economic growth and participate in the development process. Moreover, all the Indian states should register fast growth rate and achieve regional balances.

It has been carrying out several activities which facilitate the development of various Indian States. Its various forms of interventions include technical support services, studies, training programmes, seminars and workshops in the following areas:

As a charitable organization, KDS implements various charitable activities for communities such as self help groups, transgender people, micro and small enterprises, young and emerging enterprises, minority communities, resource persons working local government institutions and women and children. KDS provides financial helps to meritorious students.

Kerala Development Society is registered under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. Its registration Number is S-43730 dated 6th September-2002. It is a charitable organization and received Income Tax exemption both under 12AA and 80(G). Income Tax Registration number under Section 12AA:No.DIT (E) 2003-04/K-697/03/929 dated 18/9/03.
